Goalkeeper Ifan Knott was the penalty shootout cup hero for Haverfordwest CountyHaverfordwest County won a dramatic penalty shoot out at the expense of battling Trethomas Bluebirds to reach the third round a the LHP Stadium, Carmarthen.
 
The JD Cymru Premier outfit knew this tie was a potential banana skin as they were dumped out by the current top of the table JD Cymru South outfit last season.
 
Tony Pennock’s men created some decent chances over the 90 minutes as it stayed goalless, but they played with ten men for the final half hour as skipper Dylan Rees was sent off for two bookable offences.
 
In the tense shootout Luke Tabone, Corey Shephard, Ben Ahmun, Ben Fawcett, and Dan Hawkins all scored from the spot for the hosts as goalkeeper Ifan Knott saved Trethomas Bluebirds Kallum Thomas’ effort – the keeper correctly dived down to his left to help his side scrape through to the next round.
 
Trethomas Bluebirds manager Mark Dunford: “I thought we were outstanding. What we asked the boys to do today, collectively we caused Haverfordwest a lot of problems.”
 
"There was no way we were going to make many changes today, I knew what a tough team Trethomas Bluebirds are as they took us all the way again," said Haverfordwest County manager Tony Pennock.
